News: Tim Heinemann | With TrackTime From Sim to DTM
Sim racing has become an integral part of real-world motorsports and is becoming increasingly valuable for racing teams, their engineers, as well as for racing drivers themselves. The best example right now: DTM rookie Tim Heinemann, who found his way into real motorsports with the help of sim racing and whose speed convinces even far more experienced racing drivers. TrackTime has accompanied him since the beginning of his career and offers him the best possible technical equipment to prepare for his various racing events thanks to TrackTime’s wide range of products. At home, the DTM driver uses a TrackTime Race Rig TT07, on race weekends he likes to train on a TrackTime 3motion simulator with a custom-made "From Sim to DTM" design. This offers him the possibility to prepare perfectly for the upcoming session on the racetrack.
The 25-year-old is the first racing driver to make the leap from sim racing to the DTM. Thanks to the little effort required to get to know tracks and the opportunity to perfect one’s driving style, sim racing turned quickly from a hobby into something more and Tim was able to gain important experience for his later involvement in real motorsport.
By winning several sim racing competitions, Tim first attracted the attention of KW-CEO Klaus Wohlfarth and later that of DTM legend Bernd Schneider thanks to a test in a real GT3 car. Over time, he was allowed to prove himself in further tests and directly achieved a sensational podium finish in his later racing debut in 2018. Further successes followed in 2019 as part of his first full season in the ADAC GT4 Germany, but the final breakthrough came in 2020 with his championship title in the DTM Trophy, which he would repeat in 2022 thanks to an impressive season. In 2021, he also became champion of the GTC Race, thus celebrating his first GT3 title.
Now, in 2023, Tim Heinemann is driving his first season in the DTM. He and his team Toksport WRT are using the Porsche 911 GT3 R (992), which Tim has already successfully driven for FALKEN in the 24h Nürburgring race.
During the first race weekend in Oschersleben he was able to achieve an immediate success, bagged two second places and drove to Zandvoort for the second weekend as the leader of the championship.
